Hi Chris, I totally understand that my statement could come across as sexist, but I was more so trying to point out the privileges that people from minority groups often lack (comparatively, at least), which also extends to women, even though women are technically not a minority. But thank you for pointing this out and for your comment 🙂

Congratulations on a terrific article and response Camha. I wholeheartedly agree. Just a little comment though to your “Extra points if you happen to be male: congratulations, you have the entire world at your feet.” Not all white males are privileged. Your comment could be seen as rather sexist. It’s so easy to generalise, which is a poont in your own article.

I have done a solo, backpacking, voluteering and besties trip. Getting ready to go and volunteer at the Olympics on my own too. At 24 years old, I think 3/4 isn’t too bad, ayy?
